Unveiling the Magic of Micro-Needling: Exploring Different Methods and Amazing Results
At Rejuvenate Clinics we LOVE all things skin rejuvenation and we get REALLY EXCITED about micro-needling! So prepare to be amazed as we unravel two different types of micro-needling and the incredible results they can achieve. So, let's get started!
1. Traditional Micro-Needling:
Our first stop is traditional micro-needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This technique involves using a handheld, pen like, device equipped with tiny needles that create controlled micro-injuries as it is moved in circular or linear motions across the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin, leading to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. These devices tend to be used more superficially at depths of 0.25 - 1.50mm which makes traditional micro-needling super effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles, while improving overall skin texture.
2. Radiofrequency Micro-Needling:
Next up, we have radiofrequency (RF) micro-needling, which takes the benefits of traditional micro-needling to the next level. This cutting-edge treatment combines the power of micro-needling with the added boost of radiofrequency energy and can be used to depths of 1mm to 3mm. It is usually done in a 'stamping' motion and in some cases special vacuum that holds the skin in place (like ours!) which also helps the treatment be more comfortable. The RF energy that is delivered via the needles heats the deeper layers of the skin, further stimulating collagen and elastin production. RF micro-needling is highly effective in tightening and lifting loose skin, treating scars and stretch marks, minimizing pore size, and improving skin tone and texture. It's an excellent choice for those seeking more dramatic results.
Wondering if these incredible results come with a catch? Well, it can be uncomfortable, but we are yet to meet anyone that has needed or requested numbing cream for our treatments. You will also need follow up and top up treatments. We recommend, for best results, 3 treatments 4 weeks apart and the "top-ups" every 3-6 months depending on how you feel the treatment lasts for you.
Now that we've explored the enchanting world of micro-needling, it's crucial to understand the importance of before and aftercare for optimal results.
Before your micro-needling session, make sure to keep your skin clean and free from any makeup or skincare products. We may also advise avoiding certain medications or treatments that could increase skin sensitivity.
After the procedure, your skin will be more sensitive, so gentle care is essential. Follow these tips for optimal aftercare and the best results.
1. Moisturize: For the first 24 hours use only a Hyaluronic serum (which we provide) then keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer to aid the healing process.
2. Protect your skin: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week after the treatment.
3. Avoid intense workouts and saunas: For a few days post-treatment, it's advisable to avoid activities that can cause excessive sweating or heat exposure.
4. Be patient: Results take time! It may take a few weeks to see the full effects of micro-needling. Stick to your recommended treatment plan and follow-up appointments for the best outcomes.
Micro-needling is a game-changer when it comes to rejuvenating your skin. Whether you opt for traditional micro-needling or RF micro-needling you're bound to experience remarkable improvements in your skin's texture, tone, and overall appearance. Just remember to follow the before and aftercare guidelines provided by your practitioner to ensure you maximize the benefits of these transformative treatments.
